Organizers are anticipating more than 4,000 eighth-grade students from across Central Illinois for this week’s ninth Greater Peoria CareerSpark expo at the Peoria Civic Center.
The two-day event is gives students a chance to get a first-hand look at future employment opportunities in several high-demand career fields, such as manufacturing, health care, information technology, construction, and more.
A spokesperson for Morton Industries said the expo gives them a chance to “connect with the next generation” by showcasing many of the available career paths across the Peoria area.
The expo is presented by Junior Achievement of Central Illinois, in conjunction with the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council [GPEDC] and other community partners. Sessions are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.
Students will be able to move across immersive stations and interact with industry professionals to develop career interests that can shape future academic and job training paths.
