A 6-year-old Peoria girl has died after days in the hospital following a drowning at Mt. Hawley Country Club.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Nola Lobdell died Friday afternoon at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. July 28, when Peoria police and fire responded to the country club pool for a report of two children found unresponsive in the water.

Staff attempted life-saving measures before first responders arrived. An 8-year-old regained consciousness at the scene, while Lobdell was resuscitated in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.

Police said the pool had been closed to the public that evening for an employee appreciation event.

Lobdell was admitted to OSF in critical condition. In a social media post Saturday, Harwood said her condition deteriorated over the week, culminating in her death.

The incident remains under active investigation by the coroner’s office and the police department.
