The General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport remains on a streak of breaking monthly passenger count records.
The airport says nearly 79,000 passengers came through the facility in June, an increase of 20% from the same month in 2024. That’s also 8.4% higher than May’s all-time record of about 72,800.
“It’s reassuring to see that our efforts are making a difference as we work every day to improve the air service experience for the Peoria area,” said Director of Airports Gene Olson in a media release.
PIA has now established new records in nine of the last 11 months, including the past three, and is on pace to see 2025 deliver its highest annual passenger count.
Olson said increased flight options and expanded class offerings have contributed to PIA drawing more customers from outside the immediate area.
“We’re attracting travelers from well beyond the Peoria region. That growing demand helps us continue building the case for additional air service in the future,” he said.
A report from Cirium, a London-based aviation analytics firm, indicates Peoria International Airport’s total airline seat capacity has grown by 22.5% over the past year.
“The additional capacity placed in the Peoria market shows that airlines believe in our region’s ability to support continued growth,” said Olson.
