Traffic moves Sunday through the intersection of Court Street and Stadium Drive in Pekin.

The activation process for traffic lights installed in one of Pekin's major intersections begins Monday.

The lights at Court Street and Stadium Drive will flash yellow on Court and red on Stadium and East Shore Drive from Monday through March 12, when the lights will be fully operational.

East Shore is across Court from Stadium.

While the lights are flashing, traffic on Court will have the right of way and can proceed through the intersection. Drivers exiting Stadium and East Shore must stop until traffic clears.

Message boards will keep drivers informed until March 19 about what's happening in the intersection.

The traffic lights were installed as part of a reconstruction project on Court, one of Pekin's main thoroughfares.

The Court and Stadium portion of the intersection is a busy entrance and exit for Pekin Community High School, the high school's athletic facilities, and the Pekin Park District's Veterans Memorial Arena and Mineral Springs Park.
