A 17-year-old female is dead after a single-vehicle crash in rural Peoria County.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood has identified the victim as Grace Abbott of South Edwards Street, Princeville.
The Peoria County’s Sheriff’s Office says officials responded to a report of a crash at the intersection of Parks School Road and Elliott Road just before 1 p.m. Saturday. Deputies found only Abbott in the car, deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigations say the car traveled west on Parks School Road, left the road near the crest of a hill on Elliott Road and hit a tree. Police say there was no one else in the vehicle.
The accident remains under investigation. Harwood says toxicology testing is pending as required by Illinois State Statute.
