A Peoria firefighter was injured Friday evening battling a house fire.

According to a news release, the Peoria Fire Department responded around 7:15 p.m. to a report of a house fire in the 1300 block of West Millman Street. Fire was showing from the back of the house when the department arrived.

After putting out the fire in about 30 minutes, officials learned the house was vacant.

Investigators determined the cause of the blaze was arson.

Officials said one firefighter was injured when the porch he was standing on collapsed. The firefighter was treated at the scene; no one else was injured.

The vacant house has been deemed a total loss, with damage estimated at $40,000.
