Man dead after early morning shooting in far north Peoria

A man is dead after a shooting early Monday morning in far north Peoria .

Peoria police responded to a report of four males breaking into vehicles just after midnight in the 8900 block of North Scrimshaw Drive.

While headed to the scene, officers were told multiple gunshots were fired.

A 22-year-old man was found with an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Clay Megan of N. Scrimshaw Dr. was shot in the neck and died instantly.

Police currently have no suspects.
