Out and About in Greater Peoria: Oktoberfest and fall celebrations

Here are 3 things to do for the weekend of Sept. 20- Sept. 22, 2023, curated by WCBU's Camryn Cutinello. You can find more coverage on our Out & About - Arts & Music page or by subscribing to WCBU's Weekend Fanfare email newsletter, which goes out every Friday.

Celebrate: Enjoy German song, dance, food, drink and cultural exhibits this weekend at Oktoberfest 2024. This fest is hosted by the Peoria Park District and German-American Central Society and is the Midwestern version of the Munich Oktoberfest. The event opens today at the Peoria Riverfront and goes all weekend. Single day and weekend tickets are available.

Eat: Get ready for fall Friday and Saturday at the Braker’s Market Fall Celebration in Eureka. Get some of your favorite fall treats with fresh-pressed apple cider and homemade donuts. Or celebrate the last days of summer with lemon shake-ups and cotton candy. Also enjoy some in-store sales, samples and giveaways.

Shop: Don’t miss the annual Fall Market at the Woodford County Fairgrounds. More than 50 local businesses will host booths at the market selling clothes, handmade candles, toys and more. Food vendors will offer coffee, pizza, lemonade and sweet treats. The market is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
