Man dead after Wednesday evening shooting in Peoria

A man has died following a shooting Wednesday night in Peoria.

According to a news release from the Peoria Police Department, officers were dispatched around 11:55 p.m. to the 200 block of North MacArthur following a Shot Spot Spotter alert of one round being fired.

Officers found an adult man in the roadway in the 800 block of West John Gwynn with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood identified the victim on Friday as Oren Williams, 36, of Peoria. He was shot in the neck and died moments after he was shot, Harwood said.
