A Cincinnati, Ohio man wanted in connection with a child abduction case in Peoria earlier this month was arrested Monday in southeastern Iowa.

Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins said Victor Farris, 45, reportedly jumped off a train in Monroe County, Iowa after he was confronted, but shortly thereafter was found in an alley and arrested after he was identified.

A Peoria County warrant was issued for Farris' arrest last week. He faces felony charges of vehicular hijacking, kidnapping, and unlawful possession of a motor vehicle after reportedly stealing a rental vehicle in Peoria with a 3-year-old child still inside on Sept. 4.

The 3-year-old was dropped off unharmed at a Bartonville gas station, but a large-scale manhunt in the Peoria area failed to lead to Farris' arrest. The vehicle reported stolen was found abandoned off Farmington Road.

Farris was identified after dropping his ID during a foot chase with deputies on the Rock Island Trail near Princeville. He was arrested and released in Woodford County for stealing a rental car in late August, a few days before the Peoria incident.
