A Woodford County Jail mugshot of Victor Farris, 45, of Cincinnati, Ohio. Farris was booked and released in Woodford County days before an alleged hijacking incident in Peoria. Farris remains at large.

An Ohio man was indicted Tuesday by a Peoria County grand jury after he allegedly stole a vehicle with a 3-year-old child inside last week in Peoria.

Victor Farris, 45, faces charges of vehicular hijacking, kidnapping, and unlawful possession of a motor vehicle. A warrant was issued for the arrest of Farris, who remains at large.

Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins said the indictment could help locate him if he's left the area and his name is run through the system by another law enforcement agency.

The child was later dropped off unharmed at a Bartonville gas station, and the vehicle was found abandoned near Farmington Road and Wildwood Court. Farris has so far evaded police despite an ongoing search effort.

Anyone with information on Farris' whereabouts is asked to contact police.
