A woman has died after being shot Friday night.

Peoria police responded around 10:41 p.m. to the 1400 block of South Griswold on a report of a person shot, according to a news release from the department.

Officers found a 20-year-old Mary Halcomb of Mapleton with a gunshot wound inside the residence. She was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Nathanial Archuleta, 18, also was at the scene. He was brought to the Peoria Police Department for questioning and was then arrested on preliminary charges of involuntary manslaughter, reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a handgun under 21 and not having a FOID card.

The incident remains under investigation.
