A man is dead and another is critically injured after a shooting Wednesday night in South Peoria.

Peoria police responded just before 8:30 p.m. to a ShotSpotter alert of six rounds fired in the 600 block of West Johnson.

One of the two wounded men found was pronounced dead at the scene. Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood identified him as 30-year-old Dennis Harris of Peoria on Thursday afternoon. An autopsy is set for Friday.

The second was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Peoria police at (309) 673-4521, tip411 (anonymously), or Crime Stoppers (anonymously) at (309) 673-9000.
