A person is dead after a Sunday shooting in Peoria's El Vista neighborhood.
Peoria police say two women suffered life threatening injuries in the shooting. Zaneta Winters, 35, of Peoria, was one of the victims.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood pronounced her brain dead on Tuesday. An autopsy is pending organ procurement.
Peoria police have arrested 43-year-old Stevie Linwood in connection with the shootings. Linwood was charged Tuesday in Peoria County Circuit Court with one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder.
Prosecutors said Linwood shot his girfriend, Winters, in the back of the head. A neighbor was reportedly shot when she ran across the street to help. The neighbor remains in critical condition.
