Peoria man sentenced to 70 years in prison after pleading guilty to daughter's 2022 murder

A Peoria man was sentenced to 70 years in prison Friday for the 2022 beating that left his 2-year-old daughter dead.

Shamari Williams, 27, was charged with the murder of Emmori Green. The toddler had several internal injuries, including brain bleeding, liver lacerations, and bruises to her lungs and pancreas, said authorities.

A forensic pathologist told the court Friday the bruising and cuts on the child's face and body were consistent with abuse. Many of the injuries appeared to be caused by a belt, officials said.

Williams pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in May. He must serve 100% of his sentence.
