Out and About in Greater Peoria: Princeville Heritage Days, classic car show and Shish-Ka-Bob

Here are 3 things to do for the weekend of June 28- June 30, 2023, curated by WCBU's Camryn Cutinello. You can find more coverage on our Out & About - Arts & Music page or by subscribing to WCBU's Weekend Fanfare email newsletter, which goes out every Friday.

Play: Princeville Heritage Days returns this weekend. Head to the Lillie M. Evans Library at 4:30 p.m. for an opening reception of their art show. The carnival and food tents in Stevens Square will open at 5 p.m. Tomorrow, a parade starts at 3 p.m. and the carnival opens directly after. Kids can enjoy rock painting, a magic show and face painting. The band Hindsight will be performing on the Main Stage at 6 p.m.

Cruise: Classic car lovers can make the drive to the Fulton County Fairgrounds in Lewistown for the Parade of Power Cruise-In and Car Show. The free event begins with staging vehicles at 2 p.m. A cornhole tournament starts at 4 p.m. and the afterparty starts at 7 p.m. There will be a live band and food vendors. The cornhole tournament is $30 per team. Proceeds from the event go to the Fulton-Mason Crisis Center.

Eat: Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Itoo Society’s annual Shish-Ka-Bob is back. For $18, get your choice of a beef or chicken kabob, as well as cabbage rolls, Lebanese salad and pita bread. Indoor dining will be offered in their air-conditioned hall, and outdoor dining will be available in the pavilion or an outdoor tent.
