One person in custody after child shot in head in Peoria

Peoria police have made an arrest after an 8-year-old boy was shot in the head Sunday afternoon. But they're still looking for an additional suspect.

Police responded to a call in the 700 block of East Kansas just before 5 p.m. The child who was shot was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Micah Stitts, 26, was arrested for endangering the health and life of a child in connection with the shooting, as well as an active warrant. Stitts was taken to the Peoria County Jail.

A 17-year-old at the scene at the time of the shooting fled and hasn't been found, police said.
