A teen is dead after Tuesday evening shooting in Peoria

A teenager is dead after a shooting Tuesday evening in Peoria.

A Peoria police officer heard shots fired while patrolling the 100 block of East Forrest Hill. A ShotSpotter alert for three rounds fired then went off.

Officers found 18-year-old MikeQuese T. Taylor of Peoria with an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said an autopsy is set for Thursday. This is the city's sixth homicide of the year.
