The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch and a flash flood warning for much of Central Illinois Saturday night into early Sunday morning.
The tornado watch covers large portions of Missouri and Illinois, including Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties. As of midnight Sunday, the watch remains in effect for Tazewell County, including the city of Pekin. It expires at 4 a.m. Sunday morning.
Scattered gusts of wind and up to ping pong size hail is also possible during isolated thunderstorms overnight.
The National Weather Service has also issued flood watches and warnings for portions of Central Illinois. This includes a Flash Flood Warning for Eureka, Washington and Metamora. The warning is in effect through 4 a.m. Sunday morning.
There is also a Flash Flood Warning in effect for Peoria, East Peoria and Morton through 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
Portions of Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties are also under a Flood Watch through 10 a.m. Sunday morning.
Officials say not to attempt walking or driving through floodwater in any of these areas.
