Man killed after scooter struck by vehicle in south Peoria

A man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle Monday afternoon on Peoria's South Side .

Peoria police responded to the crash at Arago and Grinnell just before 2:30 p.m. Police say the man was on a scooter when he ran a stop sign and was hit. He was identified by the coroner Tuesday as 35-year-old Shadrick Johnson of Peoria.

The driver of the vehicle was cited for driving on a suspended registration, DUI, and illegal transportation of alcohol. She also received a notice to appear.

The identity of the driver cited wasn't immediately released.
