Victims of unrelated weekend homicides at Lexington Hills apartments identified; arrests made

Yellow police tape stretches across a blurry crime scene. It says "Police Line Do Not Cross." The text "WCBU Police and Fire" lays on top of that photo.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood has identified the two people killed in unrelated incidents at the Lexington Hills apartments over the weekend.

Harwood said 27-year-old Trashawn Morris likely died moments after he was shot in the chest Saturday night. Another man suffered a non-life threatening graze wound in that incident.

Peoria police said Javier McGhee, 21, was arrested Monday for first-degree murder in connection with Morris's death.

Tonya Fuller, 58, was pronounced dead a few hours later at her apartment. An autopsy found she was stabbed multiple times and suffered blunt force trauma wounds throughout her body. Josef Veil, 61, was arrested for murder in her death on Sunday.

Both men were taken to the Peoria County Jail.

The arrests cap off a violent weekend in Peoria that also saw three other people shot in different incidents.
