Peoria man dead after Thursday shooting

Yellow police tape stretches across a blurry crime scene. It says "Police Line Do Not Cross." The text "WCBU Police and Fire" lays on top of that photo.

Peoria saw its first homicide of 2024 just four days into the new year.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says 34-year-old Arlin Bermudez was found Thursday afternoon in the 200 block of East Thrush.

The Peoria man suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center on Thursday night.

Murder charges were filed against David Stone, 39, on Friday in connection with the case. He was arrested in the 2200 block of W. Howett after police identified him and his vehicle.

There were 25 reported homicides in Peoria in 2023.
