Out and About in Greater Peoria: A winter adventure, breakfast with Santa and a holiday concert

Here are 3 things to do for the weekend of Dec. 8 through Dec. 10, 2023, curated by WCBU's Meagan Ruger-Smith. You can find more coverage on our Out & About - Arts & Music page or by subscribing to WCBU's Weekend Fanfare email newsletter, which goes out every Friday.

Holiday Adventure at Wildlife Prairie Park: Start your magical Holiday Adventure this weekend at Wildlife Prairie Park with games, crafts and visit with Animal Ambassadors at The Wilds in Forest Hall Education Center. Bundle up for Your North Pole Departure Time to take the Express Train through the Enchanted Forest to the North Pole! Then visit Santa’s Workshop in Prairie Hall to decorate a cookie, write a letter to Santa, enjoy free hot chocolate and coffee and of course meet with Santa!

Breakfast with Santa: Tomorrow morning, bring the whole family for a morning of fun with the Big Guy in Red! Breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, fruit and a drink. A professional picture by Paul Tuttle Photography with a digital download is included with your breakfast. A holiday craft & vendor show will also be taking place for any of your last-minute gift or decor needs.

A Holiday Concert: The Prairie Winds Ensemble, under the direction of Jim Tallman, will be presenting their Holiday Concert Dec. 10 at 3:30 p.m at Five Points Washington. Enjoy some festive music from the ensemble, including a song conducted by founding member George Graves Jr.

Meagan Ruger-Smith is a sophomore sports communication major at Bradley University, with minors in ethics and journalism. Meagan joined WCBU in 2023.
