Peoria High School football coach Tim Thornton is stepping down after 20 seasons in the district.
The Peoria Lions football team won their first state title in 2016 under his guidance, and were runners-up last year. More than 130 of Thornton's players went on to play college football. Three went to the NFL.
Thornton was also a coach at Woodruff for six years.
Thornton says he'll begin coaching at Lely High School in Naples, Florida starting next semester.
