Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley says a Washington man died at the scene of a motorcycle crash Tuesday night in East Peoria.

Hanley identified the victim as Bobbie Neltner, 40. No other vehicles or passengers were involved in the crash.

The incident happened around 4:45 p.m. on U.S. Route 24 near College Drive. According to Hanley, witnesses said Neltner was traveling westbound on U.S. 24 at a high rate of speed when he lost control and left the roadway.

Neltner was thrown from the motorcycle and landed in a grassy area, where was pronounced dead at 5:41 p.m. Preliminary autopsy results show he suffered multiple blunt force injuries; toxicology tests are pending.

The incident remains under investigation by the East Peoria Police Department and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office.
