The Illinois Department of Transportation says a new crane is up and running at the McClugage Bridge construction project after an August fire.
An IDOT spokesperson says last month's incident will impact the construction schedule by around three weeks, but they believe the time will be easily made up.
A new eastbound span is under construction to replace the nearly 80-year-old bridge currently in use. The new bridge has an anticipated fall 2024 completion date.
A spokesperson for the parent company of Johnson Brothers, the contractor working on the bridge project, said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
