Man faces new charges after escape from Peoria County Jail work crew

A gavel rests on a judge's bench in a blurry courtroom. The text "WCBU Courts" sits on top of that photo.

A man who authorities say escaped from the Peoria County Jail on Tuesday night faces new charges.

Cory Bragg, 34, was charged Thursday with escape and aggravated fleeing and eluding. Both are felony charges.

Sheriff Chris Watkins said Bragg was on a work crew taking out garbage when he fled and later stole a truck. He was taken back into custody in Pekin following a police pursuit.

Bond is set at $250,000. If convicted, his sentence would be served after his current sentences.
