Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley is identifying one of the two people killed in an apparent hit-and-run incident Thursday in Pekin.
Hanley said 35-year-old Christina Kolesar of Pekin was killed in the crash in the 100 block of Caroline Street when the scooter she was riding on as a passenger was struck by another vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man driving the scooter was taken to a Peoria hospital, where he later died. Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood identified him as 47-year-old Justin Barnhart.
Police say they're investigating the crash as a reckless homicide. No arrests had been announced as of 4 p.m. Friday.
