The owners of four Peoria-based businesses are collaborating to host a Cinco de Mayo celebration May 6 at the Junction City shopping center.

The owners of Hacienda el Mirador, TequilaRia Wine and Spirits, Next Level Entertainment, and Beat Latino Events met through the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and they have spent their time in Peoria building their businesses and volunteering throughout the community.

The celebration, called Fiesta en Junction, will include food, games, prizes, and more. An after party is from 5 p.m. to midnight and will include live music, food and bottle service, an ice cream zone, and family-friendly activities.

The Fiesta will feature food and services from Hacienda el Mirador, Ortiz Panaderia Bakery, Miranda’s Bella Boutique, and Barber Season Barbershop in addition to TequilaRia and production services.

The owner of Next Level Entertainment, Jose Rodriguez, said the four businesses each bring a different element to the planning and audience of the event, adding the four businesses’ collaboration will make the event the best it can be.

“It's gonna be a day of just pretty much having a light performance, and families are 100% (welcome),” Rodriguez said, “We hope everybody will have a good time enjoying the performance.”

The musical performances will include local bands Brazeros Musical de Durango and Clave Armada and solo performances from local artists Jason Nava and Danell Quintana.

Christell Frausto, owner of TequilaRia Wine and Spirits, said this is an important step in incorporating Latinx cultural celebrations into the Peoria social scene.

“We are doing this for-profit, so it's to support our own businesses, but we're volunteers in the community, and that almost defines our brand. That's why we're excited to collaborate together,” Frausto said.

Next Level Entertainment and TequilaRia Wine and Spirits have collaborated before; a previous event, Fiesta del Rio, had a promising turnout and helped inspire the idea to host a Cinco de Mayo celebration.

Throughout the summer and early fall, there are many other Hispanic and Latinx holidays that these business owners hope to celebrate. Owner of Hacienda el Mirador, Julia Salvatierra, said she hopes this event will be a great display of Hispanic culture for Peoria.

“We plan on making (in the) future, different kinds of events. We try to show more about Latin American culture (from) the different countries,” she said.

The activities and events during the day are free, and Hacienda el Mirador will be open for regular business hours during May 6 as well. Tickets for the after party performances can be purchased early online on Eventbrite as well as many of the locations of participating businesses, such as the Ortiz Panaderia Bakery, Miranda’s Bella Boutique, and more for $40.

Tickets also be will available at the door at a higher price.
