It's largely business as usual at Proctor Hospital Thursday after an early morning kitchen fire.
The Peoria Fire Department responded to a fire alarm around 5 a.m. Crews found thick, heavy smoke in the first floor hallway. The fire was mostly out when firefighters entered the area.
A total of 24 firefighters responded to help ventilate the building and assist with sheltering patients and staff in place.
No injuries were reported. A UnityPoint Health spokesperson said the cafeteria is closed, but food service is continuing uninterrupted and the hospital remains open.
A damage estimate wasn't immediately available.
