On Thursday afternoon, the Peoria County sheriff's department said they've made an arrest in the case. Cody A. Krause, 28, was arrested at the scene on preliminary charges of first-degree murder. The victim was a 73-year-old female that lived at the residence with Krause. The victim was Krause's grandmother.

The Peoria County Sheriff's Office is investigating the Thursday morning death of a woman as a homicide.

According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, deputies responded to a residence in the 800 block of South Kim Moor Road – south of the intersection of Airport Road and Illinois Rt. 116 – around 7 a.m., and found 73-year-old Glenda Rusterholz dead in the home.

In the post, Captain Chris Watkins said a man found at the scene is being detained in connection to the incident. Cody Krause, 28, is charged with her murder. Krause was Rusterholz' grandson.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Rusterholz suffered multiple, severe blunt force trauma injuries when she was assaulted. She also had multiple defensive wounds on her upper body, Harwood said.
