Peoria man sentenced to 50 years in 2020 fatal shooting

A Peoria man was sentenced Friday to 50 years in prison for the 2020 murder of 26-year-old Roosevelt Hunter III.

Orlando Alexander, 30, must serve 100 percent of the murder sentence under the state's Truth in Sentencing Act.

He also was sentenced to two years for unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

Hunter was fatally shot several times near the Landmark Apartments last November. Alexander was arrested days later when he was spotted putting handguns into a vehicle believed linked to the crime.
