Prominent sports broadcaster and Bradley University graduate Charley Steiner is among the inductees chosen for the Missouri Valley Conference's 25th Hall of Fame class.
Steiner graduated from Bradley in 1971 and began his broadcast career working on radio in Peoria, moving to various markets before reaching New York in 1978. After stints as a pro football announcer, he joined ESPN in 1988 and started a 14-year on-air run that included hosting SportsCenter.
A five-time Emmy Award winner, Steiner is currently in his 17th year as a play-by-play announcer for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2013, and Bradley's sports communication program was renamed in his honor in 2015.
The Valley's 2022 Hall of Fame ceremony will be held during the men's basketball tournament next March in St. Louis.
