New COVID-19 vaccinations in the Tri-County over the past week fell by about 24% from the previous seven-day period, but remained higher than two weeks ago.

According to figures updated Thursday on the Illinois Department of Public Health website, the region totaled 5,562 new administered doses since June 10, down from 7,316 a week ago but still ahead of the low of 4,742 from May 28-June 3. Tazewell County saw the steepest week-to-week decline, from 3,298 to 1,972.

The region has logged 299,800 shots and 148,015 area residents are fully vaccinated, representing 42.1% of the population. Illinois as a whole is up to 46.1% of residents being fully vaccinated, with 12.1 million total injections.
