Pekin Public Schools

Tazewell County will be asking voters in November to support a referendum on a 1% school facility tax. Morton School District 709 Superintendent Joe Sander says the funding would support facility maintenance upgrades, safety and security and mental health resources.

Pekin will no longer provide school bus service for Pekin Community High School and District 108 students at the end of this school year. Getting to the finish line of the arrangement has been difficult.

The numbers are in on the Education Association of Pekin's "Stuff the Bus" school supplies campaign for Pekin Public Schools students, the first community project undertaken by the 65-year-old union.
