Pekin city staff asked for a 4.9% increase in the city's property tax levy for the next fiscal year. City Council members reduced it to 4%.

A group of about 50 residents attended a question-and-answer session Wednesday organized by Pekin City Council members Jake Fletcher and Dave Nutter.

Four agenda items, including the city's proposed 2025-26 fiscal year budget, went down to defeat Monday at a Pekin City Council meeting.
