WCBU programming changes slated for September

Microphones hang in the WCBU studios

WCBU will debut WCBU Reports weekday mornings. This segment will feature an in-depth local news story and replace the On Deck podcast. WCBU Reports is also available as a podcast for on-demand listening.

The weekday line-up welcomes BBC Newshour at 2 p.m. The international news service provides timely reports and analysis from around the world. Airing between Here & Now and All Things Considered, BBC Newshour prioritizes the top headlines and breaking news of each day.

The weekend schedule welcomes Conversations from the World Café, a “best of” collection of recent World Café interviews and performances.

Statewide from NPR Illinois, featuring reporting from WCBU and our NPR Network sister stations throughout Illinois, will air Saturday and Sunday. Throughline from NPR will also air twice each weekend.

Leaving the schedule

A few shows depart the on-air line-up. But don’t despair. ALL of these shows are still freely available as on-demand podcasts.

· On the Media, This American Life, Code Switch/Life Kit, and Ted Radio Hour can all be found in the NPR app. Donors giving at least $8/mo or $96/yr can activate NPR+ for sponsor-free listening and bonus episodes.

· Today, Explained can be found wherever you get your podcasts.

This new line-up will yield some cost-savings to fund local news and programming.

These changes are effective September 2, 2024. View the complete WCBU schedule.
