The emergency department entrance at Galesburg's Cottage Hospital is pictured on Jan. 7, the day before the hospital suspended operations.

In the wake of Galesburg's Cottage Hospital suspending operations on Jan. 8, following are some community resources established thus far for patients and employees:

  • OSF HealthCare has a hotline for patients to transfer care from Cottage Hospital or its clinics. The hotline number is (309) 344-9438. It is staffed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday to address questions from those who need immediate care or to connect with new providers.

  • Galesburg Mayor Peter Schwartzman and registered nurse Mary Ann Pedigo will host a community forum from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27 to discuss challenges to the local healthcare system. Topics will include financial and mental health challenges of patients and healthcare workers in the community and disruption of services following the closure of Cottage Hospital. The forum will be at Lake Storey Pavilion. It is open to the public and masks are required.

  • Unity-Point Health will host an in-person career fair for displaced Cottage Hospital employees on from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21. The event will be in the Crist Student Center at Carl Sandburg College, 2400 Tom L. Wilson Blvd., in Galesburg.
