Violent Crime Arrests in Galesburg

Knox County announced the formation of a Violent Crime Task Force less than a week ago, and the group is already yielding results.

The Galesburg Police Department said the task force has arrested four people on a variety of charges:

  • Davon C Barber, 25, is charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Possession of a Firearm with Defaced Markings (serial number scratched off) 
  • Orlando J Hernandez, 24, is accused of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm
  • Treamon L Turner, 21, is accused of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Use of Weapons, and Intimidation
  • Jarvis M Lewis, 27, is accused of the Manufacture/Delivery of Cannabis over 500 grams, Possession of Cannabis over 500 grams, and Obstructing Justice


Authorities said they formed the task force to address an increase in violent crime in Galesburg.

The task force includes members of the Galesburg Police Department, the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, the Knox County State’s Attorney’s office, Illinois State Police, and the FBI division based in Springfield.

Rich has a B.A in Communication Studies with an Emphasis on Radio, TV, and Film from Northern Illinois University. Rich came to love radio in high school where he developed his “news nerdiness” as he calls it. Rich’s high school had a radio station called WFVH, which he worked at for a couple years. In college, Rich worked at campus station WKDI for three years, spinning tunes and serving at various times as General Manager, Music Director and Operations Manager. Before being hired as Tri States Public Radio’s news director in 1998, Rich worked professionally in news at WRMN-AM/WJKL-FM in Elgin and WJBC-AM in Bloomington. In Rich’s leisure time he loves music, books, cross-country skiing, rooting for the Cubs and Blackhawks, and baking sugar frosted chocolate bombs. His future plans include “getting some tacos.”
