Rauner Names Former General Counsel to Illinois Racing Board

Gov. Bruce Rauner has named his former general counsel to serve on the Illinois Racing Board.

Rauner announced he appointed Jason Barclay of Hinsdale to the board, which regulates horse racing and wagering. The position pays about $12,500 per year.

Rauner says Barclay served on the Indiana Horse Racing Commission prior to moving to Illinois, where he was the top lawyer for the governor's office before leaving for the private sector. Rauner says his experience "will be invaluable to the Racing Board."

Rauner also named the Rev. Robert Patterson of Chicago to a $25,000-per-year position on the Chicago Transit Authority Board.
