A congressman representing a large portion of downstate Illinois will be listening closely to President Trump’s State of the Union address tonight.
Republican John Shimkus represents Illinois’ 15th congressional district. H e says the president has good news to share regarding tax reform, job creation and easing federal regulations.
“I think there is a new uptick in optimism on the economy,” Shimkus said.
But, Shimkus says Congress still has hard work ahead of it, with immigration reform, taking care of DACA recipients, and border security. The Collinsville Republican also says he wants to hear President Trump’s plans for transportation and commercial infrastructure.
