AARP Illinois Distributes Voting Guides Ahead of Primary Elections

AARP.com

AARP Illinois is launching a voter-education campaign aimed at putting pressure on state lawmakers.

The group announced today it’s publishing a report detailing where Illinois legislators have stood on issues like the budget impasse.

Spokesman Ryan Gruenenfelder says he hopes the report will educate voters before the March primary … and serve as a warning to lawmakers before the spring legislative session.

“These types of things are things we wanna get out there to make sure that the General Assembly and the Governor feel pressured to do what’s right by the citizens of Illinois.”

Gruenenfelder says a “high percentage” of AARP Illinois’ nearly two million members will turn out to the polls.

Early voting in the primary begins February 8th.
