John Curran to Replace Christine Radogno in Senate

DuPage County Board Vice Chairman John Curran has been appointed to fill the Illinois Senate seat held by GOP leader Christine Radogno before she announced her resignation last month.

In a news release, the DuPage County GOP says about a dozen candidates were interviewed before Curran was selected to serve the remainder of Radogno's term.

DuPage County GOP Chairman Brian Krajewski calls Curran a "strong advocate for fiscal restraint and good government reforms" with a deep understanding of issues facing area residents.

The Downers Grove Republican has served on the DuPage County Board since 2008 and is an assistant state's attorney in Cook County.

Radogno was the first woman to lead a caucus in the Illinois Legislature. State Sen. Bill Brady took over her leadership post.
