Football Player Settles Lawsuit Against University of Illinois

twitter.com

Former Illini football player Simon Cvijanovic took to Twitter last night to announce that he has settled his lawsuit against the University of Illinois.  Cvijanovic posted a copy of a news release from the Chicago law firm representing him stating that the U of I has settled the case for $250,000 to compensate for injuries and medical expenses he sustained during his time as a football player at Illinois.

Cvijanovic first alleged in May 2015 that former U of I football coach Tim Beckman pressured him to play through knee and shoulder injuries.  The allegations led to Beckman’s firing in August 2015… then the firing of athletic director Mike Thomas three months later.

In the release… UIUC chancellor Robert Jones said “we sincerely hope this agreement helps Mr. Cvijanovic resolve any continuing health concerns and lets him focus on his future goals and allegations.”
