Chicago Officials Seek Requests to Overhaul Midway Parking

City of Chicago officials are moving ahead with the next phase of a $323 million makeover of Midway International Airport.  City officials are seeking proposals to overhaul terminal parking. The idea is to increase airport parking by about 1,400 more spaces.

The renovations were announced two years ago. In addition to expanded parking, city officials want to renovate the Chicago Transit Authority train stop at the airport.  The proposals on parking are due back next month.

Already, the city has announced a plan to invest $75 million to renovate and expand concessions at the airport, tripling the space to almost 70,000 square feet from the current 26,000 square feet.  City officials say it's the first "major upgrade" to concessions in over 15 years.
