Illinois Electors Cast Votes for Clinton

Illinois was not among the states where there was a concern about so-called "faithless electors."

They met in the state Capitol building ... mostly Democratic Party stalwarts — like Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, former Chicago mayoral candidate Jesús "Chuy" Garcia, and House Majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie.

In other words, the outcome was in no way a surprise.

"It's my pleasure to announce that Hillary Clinton received 20 electoral votes for president of the United States. Timothy Kaine — Michael Kaine — received 20 electoral votes for vice president of the United States."

Illinois awards all of its electoral votes to the popular vote winner. Clinton soundly defeated Donald Trump here — 56 to 39.
