Investigation Nets East St. Louis officials

Three more individuals have been arrested in a state and federal corruption investigation in the southwestern Illinois community of East St. Louis.  Raeshaunta S. Lacey was arrested on a charge of receiving an altered document allegedly from East St. Louis city councilwoman June Hamilton Dean, who was arrested earlier in the day.

Authorities also arrested East St. Louis Township Trustee Michael "Rump" Roberts. He's charged with using a public credit card for a trip to Las Vegas for him and his wife.

East St. Louis Community Development Office chief Edith R. Moore was arrested and charged with forgery for allegedly preventing "another person from lawfully voting."

Authorities also arrested a Washington Park auxiliary police officer for providing false information during a crash investigation.

The southwestern Illinois community of East St. Louis has been troubled by budget shortfalls and turnover of public officials amid other corruption scandals.  It has about 27,000 residents and sits across the Mississippi River from St. Louis.
