Former MA Gov Deval Patrick Joins Obama Foundation Board

Former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is joining the board of the foundation building President Barack Obama's future presidential library.  The Barack Obama Foundation says Patrick will serve alongside other board members including Obama's sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng.

The foundation is working with the president and first lady Michelle Obama on planning the library and presidential center to be built on Chicago's South Side.

Patrick has long been an Obama supporter. He says the foundation will remember Obama for leading the U.S. through turbulent times with wisdom, equanimity and grace.

The foundation has selected a location and architect and is working on programming for the center. The Obamas have pledged not to raise funds personally until they leave office.  The project is expected to cost hundreds of millions of dollars.
