Duckworth Responds to Kirk Ads

Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth is hitting back against ads from her Republican opponent for Illinois’ U.S. Senate seat.  In one ad, incumbent Senator Mark Kirk tries to distance himself from Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump by speaking Spanish.  Duckworth today dismissed it.

"He can speak all the Spanish he wants, I speak four languages. But it’s about where you are on the first day when the Senate is back in session in January. Are you gonna vote for Mitch McConnell and put Republicans back in leadership, because if that’s what you do then you’ll never get comprehensive immigration reform."

Kirk is running another ad involving two former state Veterans’ Affairs employees who are suing Duckworth.  A Duckworth spokesman says Kirk quote “cynically recruited” them for the ad.
