Some Illinois Service Agencies See Payment

Social service agencies around Illinois are starting to get the money the state government owes them from the year-long budget impasse.   Becky Beilfuss runs Teen Parent Connection, an organization that serves about 500 DuPage County families with teenage parents.  The state government owed the organization $335,000 dollars during the budget impasse.

"We were quite surprised about 10 days ago to receive full payment on our FY16 contracts for our Healthy Families Illinois program."

Now that the state is partially paying for the budget impasse - organizations like Teen Parent Connection are dropping the lawsuit they all filed together against the government for payment.

But about 50 social service agencies still haven’t been fully paid - and they’re continuing with the lawsuit.
